So I’ve become bored of the Harley I have, and I’m thinking of buying a STR. Anybody have any experience with one? Anybody have any reason to talk me out of it?

Edited to add: have test rode standard Street Triple, Street Triple R, FZ-09, GSX-S750, and ridden a buddy’s gixxer 600. The STR though... the things I wanted to do to that bike are illegal in most states.

prepare for a huge jump in HP, wheelie ability and general awesomeness.

also, get rid of the HD ‘leathers’ and get yourself some real riding gear /s

I test rode a street triple a while back. It’s like heroin, but somehow electrified.

If you’re used to a big, heavy cruiser, it will be a night and day different. The Street responds to your thoughts, moves like a scalpel, and revs to infinity.

I don’t know what other bikes you’ve ridden, but if your experience is solely with cruisers it may take some getting used to the more stacked riding position and much higher seat height. On the plus side, the euro bike dealers tend to be far more accommodating with test rides than japanese bike dealers, in my experience. The two Triumph/Duc dealers I’ve dealt with will offer you a test ride like most people ask if you’d like some coffee.

It’s opposite here- the local metric place is pretty free with the keys. Just ask and ten minutes later I’m riding. The Triumph dealer is further, and you have to schedule a ride (and it’s accompanied :/ )

That’s crazy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a big four dealer allow a test ride.
